Today, on April 16, the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues will open in New York (USA).

The Crimean Tatar delegation is represented by the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Akhtem Chiygoz, the member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Gayana Yüksel and international lawyer Suleiman Mamutov.

The program also provides for a side event, dedicated to the temporary occupation of Crimea. In particular, Akhtem Chiygoz will inform the participants of the event about the current situation in the occupied peninsula, Gayana Yüksel – about the problems of freedom of speech, Suleiman Mamutov – about the violation of the collective rights of the Crimean Tatar people as the indigenous people of Ukraine. The moderator will be Ayla Bakkalli, representative of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People in the USA.
