Presentation of the official website of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people

On April 28, 2011 the presentation of the official website of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people was held in the premises of the conference hall of Complex “Marakand”.

The event was attended by the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, MP of Ukraine Mustafa Jemilev, his first deputy Refat Chubarov, heads of departments and services of Crimean Tatar Mejlis, as well as deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC) Ibraim Mamutov, first deputy Chairman of the Republican Committee on Information of ARC Shevket Memetov and deputy Chairman of the Republican Committee on Information of ARC Alexander Chirkov, head of the Information – analytical department of the Verkhovna Rada of ARC Olga Sulnikova, coordinator of the Program “International Republican Institute” (IRI) in ARC Konstantin Plotsky, UNDP CIDP expert on local economic development in Crimea Emil Khalitov, representatives of Mass Media, delegates of Qurultay and general public.

During the presentation it was underscored that the goal of the official website of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people is to cover the day-to-day work of the supreme representative body of Crimean Tatars – Mejlis, sessions of the National Convention of Crimean Tatars – Qurultay, as well as the significant events and problems that directly related to both return, resettlement and restoration of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people, its revival and integration to social-political and social – economic life of Ukraine, and development of Crimea and all its residents. The website includes the following categories: “Qurultay”, “Mejlis”, “Diaspora”, “Multimedia”. It also provides possibility to apply on-line to Mejlis’ departments and services on various questions using “Feedback” function. Moreover, significant attention was given to classification and qualitative content of such blocks as “Unutma”, “International Forum”, “Public Initiatives”, “Crimean Tatar National Movement”.

Usage of Crimean Tatar (Latin letters), Ukrainian, English and Russian languages will let the active visitors and users, such as Ukrainian and International Mass Media, representatives of the official bodies of authorities of Ukraine and International organizations, political and public organizations, politicians, experts and students to use free resources of the official website of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people. According to Mejlis’ leaders Crimean Tatar (Latin letters) will open the Turkish world access to the last news from Crimean Tatars’ life.

Undoubtedly, among the active users of the official website of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people will be Crimean Tatars who live in other countries, including those who forced to live in the places of former exile (Uzbekistan, Russia and other CIN countries), but seeking to return to their native land.

Crimean Tatar Mejlis Press service’s staff expressed their gratitude on behalf of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people to the representation of the International Republican Institute (USA) in Ukraine, represented by the Resident Country Director in Ukraine of the International Republican Institute Mr. Hans Chris Holzen and Charitable organization “Foundation for Development of Crimea”, represented by its President Rustem Umerov, who provided significant support in opening of the official website of Mejlis in the framework of development of the principles and values in the field of information activity among the representative of various national minorities, groups and communities living in the territory of Ukraine.
