AKHTEM CHIYGOZ AND ILMI UMEROV, WERE RELEASED

THE DEPUTY CHAIRMEN OF THE MEJLIS OF THE CRIMEAN TATAR PEOPLE, AKHTEM CHIYGOZ AND ILMI UMEROV, WERE RELEASED AND HANDED OVER TO TURKEY

The Deputy Chairmen of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Akhtem Chiygoz and Ilmi Umerov, convicted in the occupied Crimea, weretransferred to the Turkish side.

First, they were brought to the Simferopol city, then a plane took them to Anapa, and about an hour ago an airplane with the Deputy Chairmen of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People landed in the Ankara city.

The President of Ukraine has already made a statement on today’s event and expressed gratitude to the President Recep Erdoğan.

“I am glad to hear that Akhtem Chiygoz and Ilmi Umerov are finally free. I thank the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for his efforts in release of our heroes, as we agreed in New York and Kyiv,” commented Poroshenko.

He noted that this issue will continue to remain among the priority “during negotiations with the world’s Leaders”.

“The joint struggle for release of all Ukrainian citizens and return to their homes are continues,” wrote Poroshenko.

Now the question is where Chiygoz and Umerov will go through the medical examination, in Kiev or in Ankara. This means that they can not fly to Ukraine immediately.
