Working Meeting of Karasubazar Regional Mejlis

The working meeting of Karasubazar regional Mejlis, held on September 14, 2011 in the national school of Sary Su district was attended by the leader of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev.

According to the Chairman of Karasubazar regional Mejlis Mustafa Asaba, the main issues of the meeting’s agenda were the analysis of the results of the work of the regional and local mejlises of the region, as well as the coming football match, in the framework of the preparation to the Crimean Tatar Mejlis Football Championship Cup.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairman of Mejlis, Head of the Department of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people on coordination of the activity of the regional and local mejlises Akhtem Chiygoz, mayor of Karasubazar Albert Kangiev, members of the Parliamentary faction “Qurultay-Rukh” in Belogorsk regional and town’s Council, heads of village councils – Crimean Tatars, as well as the heads of local mejlises of Karasubazar region and the community.

The Head of Karasubazar Regional Mejlis Mustafa Asaba in his information review described the activity of Mejlis for one-year period, the events that were carried out with the assistance of the local mejlises and the population, as well as the current work of the deputy corps of the local councils of Karasubazar region. According to M.Asaba, the results of elections of the members of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea and local councils of ARC, held on October 31, 2010, 11 members – Crimean Tatars were elected in Belogorsk region, also 11 Crimean Tatars became the members of Belogorsk town’s council. In addition, the representatives of the Crimean Tatar people headed seven councils in Belogorsk region, including the mayor of Karasubazar town Albert Kangiev.

As far as the second item of the agenda of the meeting concerns, the Head of Karasubazar regional Mejlis Mustafa Asaba informed that in the framework of execution of the decision of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people of August 9, 2011 on carrying out of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis Football Championship Cup, the regional football tournament to be held on September 25 in Belogorsk town’s stadium. “The football teams from Leninsky, Sudak, Kirovsky and Kerch regions are eligible to apply for participation in the regional match,” – M.Asaba specified.

Addressing the participants of the working meeting of Karasubazar regional Mejlis, the Head of Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev noted that the local body of the national self-governance of the Crimean Tatar people in Karasubazar region, elected by the local population of Karasubazar region in accordance with “Provision on the local bodies of the national self-governance of the Crimean Tatar people”. “Every Crimean Tatar has the right to apply to the local and regional Mejlis on his personal or public issue, as well as to make the constructive proposals, concerning the improvement of mejlis’ work,”- M.Jemilev said.

In addition, the leader of Mejlis underscored that the attempt to create various “coordinating councils and other pseudo-organizations” in Belogorsk region, made by separate persons result in mutual misunderstanding and hamper to the execution of the decisions of the regional Mejlis. “This is a harmful practice and it should be nipped in the bud,” – the leader of Mejlis stated, adding that the many-year practice showed that disregard of the decisions of Qurultay and Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people by the local and regional mejlises results in useless work of these “unions” among the majority of Crimean Tatar population.

“First of all, one should show mutual respect and continue to carry out the professional dialogue, that will let preserving and developing the national policy for the benefit of every Crimean Tatar,”- M.Jemilev noted and added that the central office of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people is open to everyone.
