Visit of Delegation of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People to Berlin

On June 27-28, 2011 the Delegation of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, headed by the Chairman of Mejlis, MP of Ukraine Mustafa Jemilev made a working visit to Germany. The delegation also numbered the President of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars, First Deputy Chairman of Mejlis Refat Chubarov, Head of Foreign relations department of Mejlis Ali Khamzin, professor, researcher of modern ethnopolitical processes on the post-Soviet territory Svetlana Chervonaya and assistant of the Chairman of Mejlis Lilya Muslimova.

The visit was conducted in the framework of implementation of the project “German-Crimean Tatar Dialogue” on invitation of the German Association for Cooperation with Eastern Europe.

Preparation and realization of the visit was promoted by a range of German public organizations: “Association for Protection of the Rights of Threatened Peoples” and Institute on Research of Caucasis, Tatarika and Turkestan, Society “Tatarlar Doychland”, society “TAMGA”.

During a two-day working visit the members of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people’s delegation held a range of official meetings with the members of the Parliament of Germany – Bundestag, representing various parliamentary factions and groups, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of the Internal Affairs of Germany, diplomats, accredited in Germany, as well as experts of German non-Governmental organizations, foundations and public initiatives.

The working visit of the Crimean Tatar delegation ended with the information evening in European Academy where after the presentation of the report of the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev the participants of the event had possibility to receive answers to the questions they were interested in, related to Crimea and Crimean Tatar problem, and also expressed their opinion of a scope of the questions discussed.

Successful implementation of the program of visit of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people to Germany was promoted by organizing-technical maintenance of all events by the member of the Coordinating Council of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars, representative of Mejlis in Germany Akhmet Ozay, Chairman of Association of culture and mutual assistance of Crimean Tatars in Western Europe Rafet Qaranlyk, activists of Crimean Tatar diaspora in Germany, entrepreneur from Cologne Abdullah Yujesan, member of the city council of Cologne Erkhat Kara and other representatives of Crimean Tatar diaspora in Germany.
