Ural-Altay PEN-Club Conference to be Held in Crimea

On June 18 – 21, 2012 the 4th Ural-Altay Pen-Club International Conference to take place in Aqmescit. The organizers of the Conference are Uigur PEN-Center of the International PEN-Club, headed by its President Khayser Abdurasul Ozgun.

The opening of the Conference starts at 9.30 a.m. in Crimean Historical Museum “La Riches” in Bakhchisaray.

On June 19, 2012 the Concluding Resolution of the 4th Ural-Altay PEN-Club International Conference will be adopted during the meeting, held in the small conference-hall of hotel “Moscow” (in Aqmescit).

The President of the International PEN-Club Mr John Ralston Saul will make his greeting speech at the opening of the Conference.

The heads of the PEN-Clubs of Finland, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Kirgizia, Kazakhstan, Tatarstan, Estonia, Hungary and other countries are to attend the Conference.

As reported, on March 24, 2012 during the meeting with the President of Uigur PEN-Center Khayser Abdurasul Ozgun the Leader of Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev supported the idea of holding of the 4th Ural-Altay Pen-Club International Conference in Crimea, uniting the representatives of the creative intellectuals of peoples, belonging to Ural-Altaic family of languages.

Organization’s goal is to promote the intellectual cooperation of writers worldwide. PEN-Club’s goal is also to develop the practice of the literary translation. The organization supports imprisoned writers, writers, experiencing the financial difficulties or suppressed by the political regimes that the participants of the Club determine as being repressive.
