Refat Chubarov Spoke His Native Crimean Tatar Language from Tribune of Verkhovna Rada of Crimea
On September 26, 2012 while approving the candidate Stepan Gulevaty the CEO of STRC “Krym” at the session of the Crimean Parliament the First Vice Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Head of the Parliamentary faction “Qurultay-Rukh” in the VR ACR Refat Chubarov made his statement concerning the issue from the tribune of the VR ARC in Crimean Tatar language. Thus, Refat Chubarov kept his word, given at the session of the Crimean Parliament on August 15, 2012.
At request of the Speaker of the VR ARC Vladimir Konstantinov the interpreter was invited, that turned out to be not quite ready to translate R.Cubarov’s speech at high level. In his turn, Refat Chubarov promised the MPs to translate his speech later himself.
In addition R.Cubarov made his speech in Ukrainian language. He expressed his indignation at reducing the time of the broadcast in Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar languages.
As reported, the volume of broadcasting in Crimean Tatar in STRC “Krym” comprises 26 minutes a day. In this respect Refat Chubarov pointed at a ration of Crimean Tatars in the population of the peninsular, stating about the necessity to increase the volume of broadcasting up to 21 hours a week.
To continue the work of the session of the Crimean Parliament Refat Chubarov repeatedly expressed his point of view and asked questions to his colleagues from his seat in Crimean Tatar and state languages.
We would remind you that on August 15, 2012 during the consideration of the decision “On the priority measures on execution of the Law of Ukraine “On the basis of the state language policy” in Crimea the First Vice Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Head of the Parliamentary faction “Qurultay-Rukh” in the VR ACR Refat Chubarov stated that since that time he will speak Crimean Tatar language at the sessions of the Crimean Parliament.
“I’d like to draw your attention that since the next session of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea I will speak all three languages and I’d like to ask you to invite the interpreters for those people who do not understand Crimean Tatar or possibly even Ukrainian, for my colleagues and journalists. It’s my right,”- Refat Chubarov stated, addressing Crimean MPs.
