Refat Chubarov: “I’m indignant at the actions of the state officials who took part in the opening of the memorial to the devastator of Crimea Peter Lacy”

Recently the memorial to Russian field marshal Peter Lacy who charged the cruelest military campaigns of Russian empire against Crimea in early 18 century was opened in Nizhnegorsky region in Crimea.

“I don’t know how good the mentioned below state officials in the history of Crimea, I mean in particular the destructing military campaigns of Russian army under the command of Lacy that was accompanied by the devastation of Crimean towns and settlements, the unprecedented extermination of civil population of the peninsular, but their participation in the opening of the mentioned memorial tell a lot,”- the First Vice Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov wrote on his Facebook page.

The Head of the Parliamentary faction “Qurultay-Rukh” in the VR ARC Refat Chubarov named the modern followers of seemingly forgotten empire, and then the Soviet historiography of Crimea: the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea Viktor Plakida, the Minister of Culture of Crimea Alena Plakida, the Minister of Regional Development and Trade of Crimea Svetlana Verba, the Head of the Republican Committee on the Protection of Monuments Larisa Opanasyuk.

“Thus, when someone is looking for the ways to the dialogue and trying to understand the past for the sake of mutual cooperation for the sake of Crimean future and all its citizens, others, having the status of the state officials are hurry to build new barriers and obstacles to the agreement,”- R.Chubarov thinks.
