Our national culture suffered an irreplaceable loss – Ramiz Netovkin – a talented and outstanding painter died after long illness. His works were known not only in Crimea, but even far outside Ukraine.

The sad news about the death came at night on July 16, 2011 from Turkish city Antalya where the painter since early June was undergoing a course of medical treatment and was made an operation on his heart at the end of the month. Three month ago Ramiz celebrated his 51 birthday.
Ramiz bey was born in Almazar settlement of Tashkent region. In 1975 his family returned to Crimea and settled in Otarkoy settlement and then moved to the district center.

In 1980 he graduated from the Simferopol Art School named after Samokish. His creative activity was appreciated – in ten years R. Netovkin entered the Union of Painters of Ukraine.

R. Netovkin’s basic style was graphics, the form was landscape and the main theme of his works from the very beginning was Crimea. The painter achieved the highest results in these three directions. Tens of his exhibitions had success in various parts of the world. A simple enumeration of the cities where he had exhibited his works testifies to the broad recognition of Mr. Netovkin’s talent. His works were appreciated in Kyiv, Warszawa, Tartu, Moscow, New-York, etc. The exhibition in the Turkish town Kastamonu was referred to by Mass Media and art critics as a great event of the cultural life of Turkey.

Ramiz Netovkin in his works made a declaration of love to his native Crimea, glorified it, and trusted it with his hearts’ secrets. He was the first of the painters who tried to preserve the passing Crimea. Every detail of his paintings told about a nagging ache, persistent longing for the lost Crimea.

Ramiz Netovkin’s art was the brightest event in Crimean Tatar art.
