Ramadan Holiday and the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag
On the second day of Uraza Bayram in Kiev, the commemoration of the end of the Ramadan and a rally on the occasion of the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag took place. The events were held with the support of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the Spiritual Management of Muslims of the Crimea and of the Sevastopol city, as well as a number of public organizations.
In the morning, Crimean Tatars and Muslims of Kiev who gathered in the territory of the Kiev Exhibition Center (VDNKh) were able to congratulate each other on a great holiday and taste delicious treats, prepared by activists. The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, the Head of SAMK Aider Rustemov and representatives of public organizations greeted the guests and voiced their congratulations from the stage. In the continuation of the program were different ages children who read poetry and demonstrated their knowledge of religious topics. And also, guests from youngest to oldest were able to participate in sports, contests and games.
After lunch, youth activists announced the start of an auto-rally dedicated to the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag, the route of which passed over all Kiev. The end point was the beginning of the Khreshchatyk street, where the participants of the auto-rally joined the participants of a similar procession. Crimean Tatars and all people of different nationalities and religions who are not indifferent to them and their problems have gone through Khreshchatik to the Independence Square, carrying Crimean Tatar flags and repeating the slogans: “Crimea! Homeland! People!”, “Crimea! Homeland! Flag!” and “Crimea is Ukraine!”.
After the arrival of the marchers to the Maidan, a rally dedicated to the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag began, as well as the date of the commencement of the Second Kurultai of 1991. Speaking in front of the citizens, the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov at the beginning of his speech conveyed sincere greetings and congratulations to all Crimean Tatars and patriots of Ukraine that live in the occupied Crimea. He expressed the hope that in the shortest possible term, the parted
Crimean Tatar people will be able to reunite again. Also, Refat Chubarov, voicing the slogan: “Two flags – one country!” thanked the Ukrainian State, Government and people for the fact that on this day all Crimean Tatar national flags were raised in all diplomatic representations of Ukraine around the world. He noted that the Crimea will certainly be liberated and will necessarily become Crimean Tatar National-territorial Autonomy within the Unitary Ukraine. And the sky-blue cloth of the Crimean Tatar national flag with a golden Tamga, raised a hundred years ago on the First Kurultay of 1917, would never come down and fall to the ground.
