Protesters in Islyam-Terek Demand Taking Immediate Measures Concerning Whole Circulation of Book «Asked to Remember»

On August 2013 the all-Crimean meeting against the scandalous “Eastern Crimea Book of Condolence “Asked to Remember” was held in Islyam-Terek (Kirovskoe). The protesters demanded depriving the scandalous author Mr Vladimir Shirshov the title of the honored resident of Kirovskoe region and resignation of Mr Oleg Gordeev, Head of Kirovskoe Regional State Administration, IA QHA reports.

Around one thousand people that came from all around Crimea took part in the meeting that was held next to the building of Kirovskoe Regional State Administration. Mr Refat Chubarov, First Vice Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Head of the Parliamentary Faction “Qurultay-Rukh” in the VR ARC, Mr Zair Smedlyaev, Head of Mejlis Secretariat, and Mr Ekrem Abdulvapov, Head of Islyam-Terek Regional Mejlis also joined the meeting.

The protesters adopted the Resolution, demanding resignation of Mr Oleg Gordeev, Head of Kirovskoe Regional State Administration, as well as taking immediate measures aimed at arresting the whole circulation of the book “Asked to Remember” and file a suit to exterminate it, as well as to deprive its author of the title “the honorary resident of Kirovskoe region”.

“I think that the authorities of Kirovskoe region are very unwise people, because they made the decision to allocate 15,5 thousand UHA from the state budget to publish this book and also addressed the heads of the rural councils asking them to promote its publication and financial assistance. At that they even didn’t look at its content and didn’t guess to hire a reviewer who could give the objective evaluation of this book,”- Mr Chubarov, First Vice Chairman of Mejlis said at the meeting.

We would remind you, the book titled “Book of Memory of Eastern Crimea “Asked to Remember” that justified the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people and containing xenophobic expressions aimed at stirring up national, racial, religious hatred was published for budget funds in Kirovskoe/Islyam-Terek region of Crimea. The authors of this book were Vladimir and Maria Shirshovs.

According to the authors, this book must obtain the status of a text book and has to be distributed at schools and libraries of Kirovskoe region.

Resolution

Of the participants of the meeting protesting against the participation of the local self-governing bodies and executive authorities of Kirovskoe region of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and their officers in financing and spreading of the issue containing knowingly false and humiliating statement about the Crimean Tatar people

On July 25, 2013, at 13:30 p.m. the premises of the Kirovskoe Regional State Administration have to house the presentation of the 1st volume of the issue “Book of Condolence of Eastern Crimea “Asked to Remember”. The authors and compilers of this book were Vladimir and Maria Shirshovs and the author of the preface was Mr Oleg Gordeev, Head of the Kirovskoe Regional State Administration.

Mr Oleg Gordeev, Head of the Kirovskoe Regional State Administration and Mr Mikhail Ivanov, Head of Kirovskoe Regional Council supposed to take part in the presentation that was announced at the official website of the Kirovskoe Regional State Administration.

Only the day before the presentation announced one copy of the aforementioned book came across the representatives of Islyam-Terek Regional Mejlis and Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People. The mentioned book that also included the separate section “Crimean Tatar issue” represented a biased collection of material published in Soviet times against Crimean Tatars mixed with the authors’ own false statements and fabrications that called to justify the criminal deportation of the Crimean Tatar people, committed by the criminal Soviet regime on May 18, 1944.

In addition, despite the well-known and proved facts the authors of the book let themselves the cynic mockery of the memory of the legendary intelligence agent Ms Alime Abennanova who suffered martyrdom from Gestapo men, but who hold true to her military oath and didn’t give up her comrades-in-arms. 69 years after Ms Alime Abennanova’s death the latter-day historians Shirshovs decided killing the very memory about the hero saying that allegedly she was a traitor and switched sides.

It was only the public indignation of the Crimean Tatar community that averted the presentation of the book. However, its authors rejected the proposition of the Kirovskoe Regional State Administration and community concerning the joint consideration of the ways out of the existing situation and keep on spreading a flow of lie and insinuations in various forms, including various round tables. We couldn’t help regarding such Shirshovs’ actions as the conscious rousing of hatred against Crimean Tatars.

One should make a special note that the preparation and publication of 1200 copies of the book, titled “Asked to Remember” that contained the materials justifying the crime against humanity that was committed on May 18, 1944 became possible due to the financial support from the budget of the Kirovskoe region comprising 15500 UHA as well as the budgets of range of village councils of the region that allotted additional few thousands UHA. At that the members of the Kirovskoe regional council and heads of the profile departments of Kirovskoe Regional State Administration didn’t take paints approving neither the plan of publication, not the authors and ignored the need to obtain the scientific review to the manuscript of the book.

Thus, the actions of the authors of the book that kindling the national, racial, religious hatred and enmity as well as the officials that allocated the budget funds for its publication and distribution falls under the article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

We also follow from the fact that the main goal of these acts was setting people belonging to different nationalities against each others.

We, the participants of the meeting protesting against the actions of the local authorities and executive bodies of Kirovskoeregion of Crimea and the officials that allocated budget funds for publication and distribution if the book that contains the deceitful and humiliating statements against the Crimean Tatar people demand from the authorities and law enforcement agencies:

1. Investigate the actions of the authors of the book and local officials that fall under the article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

2. Take the urgent measures filling suits concerning the destruction of the whole circulation of the book “Asked to Remember”.

3. Dismiss the Head of the Kirovskoe Regional State Administration Mr Gordeev Oleg Constantinovych.

4. Take the measures provided by the law to make the accused persons reimburse the funds spent from the budget of the Kirovskoe Region and budgets of the village councils.

5. Order the members of the Kirovskoe Regional Council belonging to the Party “National Rukh of Ukraine” to deprive Mr Shirshov Vladimir Fedorovych the status of the honored resident of Kirovskoe region.

Adopted by the participants of the meeting
