Problems of Observance of Crimean Tatar People’s Rights and Role of Ombudsman in Their Solution Were Discussed in Office of Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights
The Representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights on the protection of child rights, equality and non-discrimination Ms Aksana Filipishina held the working meeting in Kyiv last week with the representatives of the research organizations and experts from the NGOs to discuss the problems of the observance of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people and the role of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in their solution – the press service of the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights reports.
In particular, during the meeting the issues of acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship by the persons that were deported on the national grounds that return to Ukraine, problems of the resettlement and restitution of property, solution of social and cultural problems, and integration into the Ukrainian society were discussed.
The special attention at the meeting was given to the discussion of the results of the report on the integration of the formerly deported persons in Crimea, based on the research of the independent experts that was recently published by the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM).
“The report reflects the current situation with the observance of Crimean Tatars’ rights and contains the important recommendations both for the Ukrainian Government and international organizations; it demands the broad spreading and the Ombudsman is ready to promote this actively,”- the representative of the Ombudsman Ms Aksana Filipishina said.
