Mejlis Meeting Considers Results of Elections to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Sets Date of Regional Conference in Aqyar

The Regional Conference of Crimean Tatars of Aqyar region to take place on November 24, 2012

The decision was adopted at the regular meeting of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, held in Aqmescit on November 12, 2012.

According to the Secretary of the Commission on preparation and organization of the elections of local mejlises Zair Smedlyaev the elections of local mejlises were held in Aqyar region on October 20, 2012. Thus, the process of the election of the bodies of the national self-governance of Crimean Tatars was completed almost in all Crimean regions.

In addition, Mejlis members heard the information on the results of the elections of the MPs, presented by the Secretary of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Zair Smedlyaev. As is known, the candidates, nominated to the MPs of Ukraine from Mejlis took part in the Parliamentary elections, held in Ukraine on October 28, 2012 – Ahtem Chiygoz (district #10) and Eskender Bariev (district #8). Despite the fact that Chiygoz and Bariev were not elected to the Parliament they took the second positions and showed the high results due to their active work and daily meetings with the electors.

During the consideration of the Draft “Provision on the elections of the delegates of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people,” proposed by the Central election commission on the elections of the delegates of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people, the members of Mejlis decided to create the working group from the members of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people to work out the Draft “Provision on the elections of the delegates of Qurultay”. The working group was ordered to present before November 24, 2012 the final draft to the consideration of Mejlis, scheduled on November 25, 2012.

The Head of the Land Commission of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Zevdzhet Qurtumerov informed all the present about the situation with allocation of land to Crimean Tatars.
