Mejlis Head Mustafa Jemilev Met with Senior Advisor of OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Mr Bob Din

On June 4, 2013, the Head of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Mustafa Jemilev met in Kyiv with the Senior Advisor of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Mr Bob Din.

The parties discussed the issues relating to the coming presentation in Kyiv and Crimea of the report, prepared by the expert group under the aegis of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities and support of the Norwegian Government.

The report of the international expert group is called to disclose the current situation in Crimea around the formerly deported Crimean Tatar people and persons belonging to other nationalities in the framework of the preparation and holding of the International forum on the restoration of the rights of Crimean Tatar people in their Homeland, ensuring their safety and guaranteeing their development in Ukraine.

Mejlis Head Mustafa Jemilev appreciated the work of the OSCE and High Commissioner on National Minorities Mr Knut Vollebaek on organization of the International Forum and expressed his hope that the Ukrainian authorities will give their consent and take an active part in preparation of this event that is extremely important for the solution of the numerous problems of the formerly deported Crimean Tatars and citizens belonging to other nationalities.

Mr Ali Hamzin, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations at Mejlis, Mr Aslan Omer, Head of the Board of Crimean Tatar Community in Kyiv, Mr Alexei Skorik, CEO of the Foundation for Development of Crimea, as well as Mr Enzo Damiani, Head of the local and regional development projects of the EU Delegation in Ukraine also joined the meeting.
