Meeting with Marek Siwiec

The Chairman – Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov and the President of the Fund of the Holocaust Memorial Center “Babiy Yar” Marek Siwiec met in the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People on the twenty-sixth of June. The aim of the fund is information dissemination about the tragedy of the past and the advocacy of the inadmissibility of a recurrence of tragedies in the future. 

Mr. Siwiec reported that an international group of scientists has been created, which is currently developing a corresponding exposition. 

The Chairman – Head of the Mejlis noted that history is interlinked. “All these crimes – the Holodomor, the Holocaust, the Deportation – they all have the same roots”. Refat Chubarov suggested in the planned memorial to highlight the tragedies of the twentieth century as a whole. After all, today Russia is trying to rewrite history, especially World War II, to reformat true values ​​into artificial values, to impersonate criminals of the past as heroes.

The parties agreed on further coordination for the implementation of this project.

The meeting was attended by members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People: Gayana Yuksel, Eskender Bariev and veteran of the national movement Sinaver Kadyrov.
