Meeting of the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people with Mr. Sayit Yusuf, the Deputy Director on issues of Foreign Turks and related Communities of the Turkish Republic Government Secretariat

On August 21, the meeting of the Chairman of the Mejlis with the delegation led by Deputy Director Mr. Sayit Yusuf on issues of Foreign Turks and related Communities of the Turkish Republic Government Secretariat was held in the office of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people in Kiev. The Crimean Mufti Mr. Ayder Rustamov also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Deputy Director informed that for 25 years now the Republic of Turkey has been accepting students from all over the world to study at universities in the country at the expense of governmental scholarships. The Directorate on issues of Foreign Turks is analyzing the results of this program, focusing on creation of alumni communities in the countries of students’ origin, including Ukraine. It is known that annually about 40-50 young citizens of Ukraine come to study in Turkey. Many of these students are Crimean Tatars.

The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people emphasized in his speech the need to continue supporting young people from the Crimea who want to get education in Turkey. Mr. Chubarov noted that the occupation of the Crimea by the Russian Federation does not interfere this process. At the same time, Mr. Refat Chubarov emphasized the importance of returning alumni of Turkish universities to their homeland, their people, in order to apply the acquired knowledge with maximum benefit for their community.

From himself, Mr. Sayit Yusuf assured that the Turkish side takes all necessary measures to ensure the continuity of the process of entering of Crimean Tatar youth to study in the best universities in Turkey. He also noted the importance of increasing the effectiveness of the process, because only when the young man graduates his studies, returns home and successfully finds a job, we can talk about its success.

At the end of the meeting, the Turkish delegation presented memorable gifts to the Crimean Tatar side.
