Meeting of Organizing Committee on Preparation and Holding of Memorable Events Commemorating Noman Chelebidzhikhan

On February 4, 2014, the first meeting of the Organizing Committee on Preparation and Holding of Memorable Events Commemorating the 96th anniversary of Noman Chelebidzhikhan’s death. The composition of the Organizing Committee was approved by the decision of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People of January 25, 2014.

During the meeting the draft plan of events commemorating the 96th anniversary of Noman Chelebidzhikhan’s death was considered and approved in principle.

In particular, according to Mr Ayder Ajimambetov, Head of the Organizing Committee, in 2014 in the framework of the memorial events commemorating the 96th anniversary of death of Noman Chelebidzhikhan the well-known political and public figure of the Crimean Tatar people, Mufti of Crimea, Poland, Lithuania and Belorussia, duas and hutbis (religious preaching) commemorating N. Chelebijikhat will be held in every Crimean mosque. On February 23, 2014, the annual mourning meetings, as well as requiems will be held in Dzhankoy, Yevpatoria, Krasnogvardeysk and Kerch regions.

Ms Emine Avamileva, member of the Organizing Committee informed that from February 19-23, 2014 the dramatic reading competition, dedicated to Noman Chelebidzhikhan’s public, political and religious activity will be held among the pupils of the Crimean Tatar schools and classes.

In addition, the evening commemorating Noman Chelebidzhikhan was planned for the students and representatives of the public organizations. According to Mr Seydamet Yagyaev, member of the Organizing Committee, the lecture will be delivered in Noman Chelebidzhikhan’s room-museum that was opened in the Department of the Crimean Tatar and Turkish Philology of KIPU in 2013. Mr Yagyaev also added that the sports competitions on the Crimean Tatar national wrestling “Kuresh” were planned in the framework of the memorable events that will be held in KIPU’s assembly hall.

The Head of the Organizing Committee announced the proposals on installation of the memorial board on the building located on 20 Chekhov Str. in Simferopol where the Muslim Executive Committee was located in 1917-1918. According to Mr Adzhimambetov, this issue will be considered at the nearest session of Simferopol Regional Mejlis. During February – March the ceremonial opening of the memorable board was planed.
