Meeting of Heads of Local Mejlises of Aqmescit (Simferopol) Region
The meeting of the newly elected Heads of local mejlises of Aqmescit (Simferopol) region was held on April 16, 2012.
Ahtem Chiygoz, Deputy Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Head of the Department of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people on coordination of the activity of regional and local mejlises chaired the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by the members of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Fevzi Kubeddinov, Islyam Halilov, Ruslan Ennanov and Lemar Unusov.
The agenda of the meeting included the issues, related to all-Crimean national holiday Hydyrlez and mass events, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people – the criminal deportation of May 18, 1944 and the decades of forcible keeping of Crimean Tatars in exile.
Opening the meeting of the heads of local mejlises of Aqmescit (Simferopol) region, Deputy Chairman of Mejlis, Ahtem Chiygoz congratulated all the participants of the meeting with their election and expressed his hope that “after the coming of the new members to the local mejlises, elected through the direct and secret voting, we will become the eyewitnesses of the cardinal revival of the public – political and social activity of Crimean Tatars, living in such large and important region”.
All the speakers of the meeting noted that the carrying out of the mess events, held soon at the all-Crimean level – all-Crimean national holiday Hydyrlez and mass events, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people will become a kind of “a test” for the newly elected mejlises of Aqmescit (Simferopol) region.
The participants of the meeting noted in their speeches about the significance of the mentioned above events, that the history of the Crimean Tatar people includes both tragic and glorious pages. They were unanimous in their opinion that the goal of today’s generation is to provide guarantees for the perseverance and development of the indigenous people of Crimea. “Correspondingly, the carrying out of all-Crimean national holiday Hydyrlez is aimed at the spiritual and cultural revival of our people. While carrying out on the eve of May 18 the mass events, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people is not just the expression of our grieve and pain for the previous generations, our fathers and mothers who lived through the horrors of the deportation of May 18, 2012, but also the expression of our will and resoluteness to achieve full restoration of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people,” – such was the opinion of all the participants of the meeting concerning the issues discussed.
The participants of the meeting also discussed in details the routes of movement of the participants of all-Crimean mourning meeting to be held on May 18, 2012 in the central square of Aqmescit (Simferopol), outlined other organizational measures, promoting the participation of many thousands of our nationals in the events planned.
In conclusion of the meeting the newly elected heads of local mejlises of Aqmescit (Simferopol) region discussed the order of the interrelation and coordination of the activity of local mejlises before the carrying out of the regional conference of Aqmescit (Simferopol) region to be held on May 12, 2012.

As reported the elections of the members of local mejlises of Aqmescit (Simferopol) and Aqmescit (Simferopol) region were held on March 31, 2012.
Within 5 days after the elections all the newly elected local mejlises held their meetings where they elected their heads, deputy heads and secretaries of local mejlises.
In compliance with the “Provision on local bodies of the national self-governance of the Crimean Tatar people” all heads of local mejlises are at the same time the members of the regional Mejlis.
The final formation of the regional Mejlis and election of the Head of the regional Mejlis is to be held at the regional conferences whose delegates are to be all the members of local mejlises.
In compliance with the decision of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people of April 15, 2012 the approval of the composition of Aqmescit (Simferopol) region and election of its Head to be held on May 12, 2012 by the delegates of Aqmescit (Simferopol) regional conference.
