On March 4, 2014, Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and his Vice Nariman Jelyal met with Ms Nur Sagman, General Consul of Turkey in Odessa and Mr Fatih Ozturk, Second Secretary of Turkish Embassy to Ukraine.

During the meeting the Chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov told the Turkish diplomats about the position of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and announced the proposals aimed at solving the Crimean crisis.

“The main objective of the Mejlis and the bodies of the Crimean Tatar national self-governance is ensuring peace and safety of people’s lives, as well as prevention of any provocations,”- Mr Chubarov underscored. He also focused the attention of the General Consul of Turkey in Odessa and the Second Secretary of Turkish Embassy to Ukraine to the fact that all the Mejlis’ proposals on settlement of the situation are based on the principle of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

In his turn, the General Consul of Turkey in Odessa Ms Nur Sagman thanked the Chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov for the detailed description of the situation in Crimea. Ms Nur Sagmanalso noted that in the nearest future she is going to hold a range of the working meetings in Crimea in order to make the all-round analysis of the situation and in conclusion she expressed her hope for the next meeting with the Mejlis’ Chairman Mr Chubarov.
