Leader of Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev Took Part in Celebration of Taras Shevchenko’s Birthday

On May 9, 2012 people celebrate the 198th anniversary of birth of Ukrainian national genius, poet and painter Taras Shevchenko.

Thousands of people came to the grave of Kobzar to honor the memory of the national symbol, including the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.

The Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, MP of Ukraine Mustafa Jemilev received the invitation of the Administration of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to take part in the ceremonial events and put the flowers “From Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people” to Taras Grigorievich Shevchenko grave that is located on Taras mountain in Kanev, Cherkasska oblast.

Greeting all those who came to lay flowers to the grave of Taras Grigorievich the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych thanked Mustafa Jemilev for his participation in the memorial event.

In the framework of the holiday in Taras Shevchenko Museum in Kanev the President of Ukraine awarded the laureates of Shevchenko Prize 2012 with diplomas.

The Shevchenko’s Day celebration and laying of flowers to Kobzar’s grave was also attended by the Head of the Association of Crimean Tatars in Kyiv Aslan Umerov.
