Head of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Mustafa Jemilev Met Chairman of National Union of Ukrainian Writers Vladimir Yavorivsky

May 21, 2011 the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev received at his office the Chairman of the National Union of Ukrainian Writers, laureate of T.G.Shevchenko State Award of Ukraine for the novel “Vichni Kortelisy”, political figure Vladimir Yavorivsky and the Secretary of the National Union of Ukrainian Writers Peter Zasenko.

The guests were accompanied by the chairman of the Union of Crimean Tatar writers Fiza Fazyl and the chief editor of Crimean Tatar literary magazine “Yildyz” (Star) Dilyaver Osmanov.

According to the writers Shevchenko literary – artistic holiday titled “В семье вольной, новой…” is holding in Crimea from May 20 to May 22. In the framework of the established traditions Shevchenko holiday is conducted annually in different region of Ukraine, in 2011 Crimea was selected to house the event.

The opening of the celebration started with laying of flowers to the monument to the outstanding Ukrainian poet, writer, dramatist, painter Taras Shevchenko in Simferopol. Then the event continued in Taurida National University where the famous Ukrainian and foreign writers popularizing Taras Shevchenko’s works, in the framework of Shevchenko’s days met the lecturers and students of the university. Vladimir Yavorivsky noted in his greeting speech that he was glad to hold the event in the land of the brotherly Crimean Tatar people. Then the word took the member of the Union of Crimean Tatar writers Dilyaver Osmanov. Dilyaver Osmanov thanked on behalf of all Crimean Tatar writers Vladimir Yavorivsky who in 2008 became an initiator of creation of the Union of Crimean Tatar writers in Crimea and keep on supporting his colleagues.

The Head of Crimean Tatar Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev, addressing his guests wished all participants of Shevchenko literary – artistic holiday the fruitful work and success, noting that the works of an outstanding Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko prove its selfless fighting for unity and independence of Ukrainian nation and state.

One should note that the participants of the holiday were going visit many Crimean towns in the framework of the program, where they will carry out the literary readings. Moreover, the holiday has its agenda to carry out the cultural actions, book and literary exhibitions, presentations of new issues and creative meetings with youth and creative elite of Crimea.
