Delegation of Central Office of Crimean Tatar Association of Culture and Mutual Assistance of Turkey Met with Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Mustafa Jemilev

On June 21, 2011 the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev and his First Deputy, President of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov received at the office of Mejlis the members of the Central Office of Crimean Tatar Association of Culture and Mutual Assistance of Turkey headed by the Secretary General of the Central office of the Association of Crimean Tatars of Ankara Tundzher Kalkay.

According to the members of the Central Office of Crimean Tatar Association of Culture and Mutual Assistance of Turkey in the framework of their visit to Crimea since June 21 to June 28 they are going to take part in the ceremonial award of Akhmed Ikhsan Qirimli literary competition initiated by the Central Office of Crimean Tatar Association of Culture and Mutual Assistance of Turkey in Ankara in cooperation with Association “Crimea” (Qirim Vakufy).

“The literary contest that gathered 109 participants from five countries such as Ukraine, Romania, Turkey, Lithuania and Russia was held in two age categories: from 12 to 16 years and from 17 to 29 years,” – the guests continued. Association “Crimea” set the money award for the prize winners of the contest. So, the winner of the contest will be awarded $4,000, the second and third place winners will obtain $3,000 and $2,000 respectively. Since 2010 the literary contest named after the Chairman of the Crimean Tatar association of culture and mutual assistance of Turkey and Association “Crimea” is holding annually.

Moreover, every year the contests will be held in turn in such literary areas as: poetry and prose. This year there was a poetry contest. The prose contest is planned for the next year. The main condition of participation in the contest is that the work must be written in Crimean Tatar language using Roman alphabet.

The award ceremony will be held on June 22, 2011 at the Crimean Engineering – Pedagogical University.

Moreover, in the framework of their one week visit the delegation of Turkish association of Crimean Tatars is going to take part in the traditional meeting with the representatives of Crimean Tatar community held with the support of the Resource – Information Center “Kozaydyn”, public organization “Women’s Club Nenkedzhan”, ATR TV Channel and radio Meydan on June 21, 2011 at 5 p.m. in “Eshil Ada” Complex. During the meeting there will be the presentation of collection and audio CD with Crimean Tatar lullabies “Ayneni”.

The other sights that the members of the delegation are planning to visit are Crimean Tatar national schools located in Kezlev (Eupatoria), Bakhchisaray, Qarasubazar (Belogorsk) and Sudak, as well as participation in the national holiday “Day of Crimean Tatar National Flag” that celebrated annually on June 26. The guests brought presents with them for little participants of the coming holiday – balloons and small flags with national emblem – tamga.

One should mention that the members of the Central Office of Crimean Tatar Association of Culture and Mutual Assistance of Turkey provided medical treatment in the special medical establishment in Turkey for the famous Crimean Tatar painter Ramiz Netovkin who suffered a heart attack this year.

Such visits of the representatives of the Central office of the Crimean Tatar society of Culture and Mutual Assistance of Turkey are annual and regular. As is known more than 3 millions Crimean Tatars live in Turkey today.
