Crimea to Celebrate 25th Anniversary of Mass Actions of Protest of Crimean Tatars in Red Square in 1987

This week the Crimean Tatar people celebrates the 25th anniversary of the mass actions of protest of the Crimean Tatar people, held in summer 1987 in Red Square in Moscow.

A range of information events, timed to this date will be organized on July 25.

– 11 a.m. – an exhibition of exclusive photos and documents, relating to the events in Moscow in 1987 in the small conference room of the Republican universal library named after I.Franko.

– 6 p.m. – gathering of the participants of Moscow actions of protest in 1987 in the site of the construction of Juma-Jami (Central Mosque) on 22, Yalta Str. in Simferopol. Here the participants of the action will share their memories about the events that took place 25 years ago.

– 8:30 p.m. – Iftar, organized by Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and Crimean Muftiat.

We would remind you that in 1987 Crimean Tatars took part in “Moscow Events”,- the mass non-violent protest that drew the world’s attention to Crimean Tatar problem and made the Soviet authorities to start the preparation to the return of the deported people to Crimea.
