Condolences in connection with the death of Mrs. Aliye Chiygoz

Condolences to the families, relatives and countrymen in connection with the death of Mrs. Aliye Chiygoz.

The night of July 2, 2017, after a long and serious illness, the mother of the Vice-Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz – Mrs. Aliye Chiygoz, passed away.

Mrs. Aliye was born in 1941 in the Korbek village near Alushta city. In May 1944, being a 3-year-old child, she, together with whole Crimean Tatar people, was deported from the Crimea. Only after decades of the exile Aliye Chiygoz along with her family – husband Zeytulla and four children were able to return to the Crimea, settling in the Topchikoy village of the Bakhchsaray district.

The Chiygoz family is known in the Crimean Tatar national movement for the activity and fearlessness of Zeitullah and his sons – Rustem  (1963-2010) and Akhtem, for wisdom and sacrifice of Aliye and two daughters – Lennara and Elmira.

New trials over the large and friendly Chiygoz family, as well as over every Crimean Tatar family, over the whole Crimea, came with a temporary Russian occupation of the Crimea.

The 29 of January 2015, Akhtem Chiygoz, acting the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, in connection with the prohibition of Refat Chubarov staying in the Crimea, was illegally arrested and accused by the Russian occupation authorities of «organizing riots», to which the occupants attributed a mass peaceful rally of the Crimean Tatars in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, organized by the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people in February 26th, 2014.
Ahtem Chiygoz has been imprisoned for 2,2 years since that time. Doctors diagnosed Mrs. Aliye Chiygoz with a serious illness in a stage that couldn’t be cured.

Due to international pressure and efforts, taken by the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and Human Rights organizations, the Russian occupation authorities were forced to allow and organize Akhtem Chiygoz a meeting with his dying mother, which lasted only 10 minutes.

The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the delegates of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people, the activists of the Crimean Tatar National Movement, the organization of the World Congress of the Crimean Tatars, express their sincere condolences to Zeitullah, Akhtem Chiygoz, Lennara and Elmira Chiygoz, as well as to all Aliye Chiygoz’s close relatives and friends.

Milletimizin Başı Sağolsun!
Allah rahmet eylesin!
