Chairman of Mejlis Refat Chubarov Visits Ceremonial Opening of International Academic Youth Competition on Crimean Tatar Language

On February 20, 2014, the ceremonial opening and the first round of the International academic youth competition on Crimean Tatar language started in the Crimean Engineering – Pedagogical University.

The academic competition is holding in Crimea with support of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, CO “Foundation “Crimea”, department of the Crimean Tatar and Turkish philology and chair of the Crimean Tatar and Turkish linguistics in CIPU.

More than 100 students from various universities of Simferopol took part in the academic competition. The opening started with the performance of the state and Crimean Tatar anthems.

Mr Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Mr Fev zi Yakubov, chancellor of CIPU, Ms Emine Avamileva, Ms Lemara Selendili, Vice Minister of Education of ARC, Mr Ayder Ismailov, Vice Mufti of Muslims of Crimea, Ms Ranetta Gafarova, dean of the Department of the Crimean Tatar and Turkish philology, faculty of CIPU and students took part in the opening of the International academic competition. Mr Tuncer Kalkai, General Chairman of the Association of Culture and Mutual Assistance of the Crimean Tatars congratulated all the present via skype with the opening of the academic competition.

“The International academic competition on the Crimean Tatar language is holding for the second time. This is the new and important stage in the process of preserving and development of the Crimean Tatar language. We are very pleased that the academic competition on the native language is holding with support of our nationals from the diaspora and I believe that such events not only will be held in the future, but will receive the international status”- Mr Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis said.

The Chairman of the Mejlis thanked all the organizers of the International academic competition and expressed his hope that such academic competitions open new possibilities and prospects for the youth generation.

“The goal of the Crimean Tatar people after its return to Crimea is to stand firm on its feet and fight for their rights and live in its Homeland. It grounds on two main basis: religion and native land. We must develop equally and fight both for the religion and our native land”- Mr Aider Ismailov said.

It should be noted that the academic competition consists of few rounds and the second stage will be held in March 2014.
