Billboards, Commemorating Victims of Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People Were Placed in Crimea on the Eve of National Mourn of May 18

The Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people placed 12 billboards, commemorating the victims of the genocide of Crimean Tatar people – May 18, 2013 in and outside Aqmescit (Simferopol) with support of the Crimean entrepreneurs, providing the advertising spaces.

Please note, the evening requiem will be held in the Ukrainian Theatre on May 17, 2013 in the framework of the events, commemorating the victims of the genocide of Crimean Tatar people and timed to the 69th anniversary of the deportation. After that the premiere of the first Crimean Tatar historical feature film, titled “Haytarma” will be held in Aqmescit.

On May 17 in the evening, the youth will hold the traditional action “Light the fire in one’s heart” in the central square of Aqmescit.

On May 18, 2013, in the morning, the residents of every Crimean Tatar settlement will hold the local mourning meetings.

On May 18, 2013 at 12.00, the International action “A Minute of Mourn and Unity” will take place. After that the columns will start their march across the streets of Aqmescit. When all five columns will converge at the central square at 1:00 p.m. the All-Crimean mourning meeting, commemorating the victims of the genocide of Crimean Tatar people – the deportation of May 18, 1944 and decades of their forcible keeping in the places of exile will start.

In conclusion the participants of the All-Crimean meeting will adopt the Resolution of the mourning meeting.

It is anticipated that the representatives of the Crimean Tatar diasporas from Turkey, USA, Romania and Russia will attend the commemorating events.
