Autonomous Guarantor. Mr. Jemilev Has Told What Drastic Measures Could Be Taken By Tatars

The leader of Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev has told in his blitz-interview to Focus about his first meeting with the new head of the Council of Ministers Anatoly Mogilev and about what Tatars could do in case of confrontation.

–    What were you talking about with Mr. Mogilev at your first meeting after his appointment?

–    I’ve told him that every person could make mistake and if a person had courage he could admit it. Mr. Mogilev changed the topic shifting to MPs: saying that they could say whatever they want, holding the floor and then kiss and hug each other in the lobbies. He told that one thing is a public speech and another thing is human relations. I know a little the background of these scandalous publications of the new head of the Council of Ministers in “Krymskaya Pravda”. I was said that in the private talk he admitted that the articles about Tatars – Hitler’s accomplices were brought to him and he signed them without reading.

–   Do you believe that the new Prime Minister of Crimea will start establishing a dialogue with Tatars?

–   I don’t have much trust yet, but he has the President’s order to establish the relations with us. I don’t think that he will show his temper, like Mr. Dzharty did. When Mr. Dzharty came he wanted first that everything was in Donetsk way, taking law into his own hands. But he was decisively repulsed. We mobilized the international community. IvisitedthePACEseveraltimes. ThenMr. Dzharty thought and started cooperating with us.

–    If Mr. Mogilev will want to take law into his own hands what could be Tatars’ answer?

–   It depends on what measures Mr. Mogilev will take against Crimean Tatars. There is already opinion that Mustafa Jemilev kept to non-violent methods of the restoration of the rights of Tatars all his life, but a person that will replace him could take more drastic measures, solving this issues. If Mr. Mogilev will act as he did in 2007 the National movement of Crimean Tatars will undoubtedly get more radical. Crimean Tatars could do a lot – they could come to the roads and close everything. Of course, no one will take arms. I won’t let it.

–   Do you really decided to leave?

–   I tendered resignation on the last Qurultay, but it wasn’t approved. We agreed to prepare the successors and approve my resignation on the next Qurultay.

–    If not you, then who will represent Tatars in the Parliament of the next convocation?

–   The future Chairman of Mejlis should be nominated to the Verkhovna Rada. There are two candidates: Refat Chubarov and Remzi Ilyasov. Mr. Chubarov is more experienced in the political work. Mr. Ilyasov has more organizational skills. If one could merge these two qualities in one person he will be an ideal leader of Mejlis.
