About Coming Session of Qurultay of Crimean Tatar People of the 5th Convocation and It’s Agenda

On July 17, 2012 the Press Conference, titled: “The 4th Session of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar People of the 5th Convocation: Agenda Issues” was held in Aqmescit (Simferopol), chaired by the First Vice Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.

R.Chubarov informed about the preparation to the next session of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people, about the issues that could be included to the session’s agenda, and also answered a range of the questions, relating to the current events in the social and political life of Crimea and Ukraine.

The First Vice-Chairman of Mejlis Refat Chubarov reminded that the work of the 4th session of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people of the 5th convocation will last two days on July 21-22, 2012.

“The delegates of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people of the 5th convocation at its session to discuss the issues, first of all relating to the election of the delegates of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people of the new convocation, to decide on the election of the MPs of Ukraine and the national anthem of Crimean Tatars,- Refat Chubarov continued. During the two days of work of the session the delegates to hear first of all the report of the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev, as well as the speech and the further decision making on the report of the Revision Commission of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people of the 5th convocation”.

R.Chubarov also noted that in compliance with the new draft Regulations on the election of the delegates of Qurultay the elections of the delegates of Qurultay for the first time will be held through the direct secret voting of Crimean Tatars and members of their families. “Before this the delegates were elected through the two-stage election system – first a certain number of electors elected the electors and they gathered at the conference to elect the delegates of Qurultay,”- R.Chubarov noted.

“As far as the election of the MPs of Ukraine concerns,- Refat Chubarov said, – we keep on negotiating with our political partners. Thesetalksarequiteintense. Today we have a certain format of proposals, but the consultations are not limited to this. I think that on July 21 in the first day of Qurultay we will make the delegates our final proposals, built on the basis of our consultations with our political partners”.

Answering the question – will Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people boycott the election in case it will fail to reach agreement with any political force, Refat Chubarov said that Mejlis will not call to anything, because this question will be solved by the delegates of Qurultay. But at the same time, according to the First Vice Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people the boycotting of the election is impossible.
