Chairman of Mejlis: Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Verkhovna Rada of Crimea today have to form the Special deputy commissions to start discussing all issues that in the opinion of the sides resulted in marked aggravation of the situation
Statement
of Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People
March 3, 2014
Simferopol
It is clear that the settlement of the situation in Crimea entered the international scene. However, it would be an unforgettable error not to create urgently the mechanisms aimed at seeking solutions within Ukraine.
My proposal is:
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Verkhovna Rada of Crimea today have to form the Special deputy commissions to start discussing all issues that in the opinion of the sides resulted in marked aggravation of the situation.
At this, the Special Deputy Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine must be sufficiently represented by MPs of Ukraine living in Crimea and elected both in accordance with the Majoritarian districts and from the political parties.
Consequently the Special Deputy Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine must include the deputies of all factions.
It is needless to say that the beginning of the joint discussion must not be accompanied by any ultimatums.
I believe that the very beginning of such work will serve an important signal for the society and will promote the reduction of tension.
