Refat Chubarov: Meeting Will Be Hold on Central Square in Simferopol Despite Any Obstacles

On December 6, 2013, the broad meeting of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People was held in Aqmescit (Simferopol) attended by the representatives of the regional mejlises.

The agenda included 5 items:

1) On the course of preparation to the all-Crimean meeting timed to the International Human Rights Day;

2) On the date of conducting of the regional conference in Leninsky region;

3) On holding of “zonal” consulting between the Mejlis’ leaders, heads of the departments of the Mejlis, the delegates of the Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar People, representatives of the local bodies of the national self-governance, deputies of the local councils and representatives of the Muslim ummahs;

4) Adoption of the temporary regulations of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People;

5) Adoption of the Provisions on the structural departments of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People.

After that the members of the Mejlis approved the date of holding the regional conference in Leninsky region – December 21, 2013. The main task of the regional conference will be the election of the new head of Leninsky Regional Mejlis.

The Vice Chairman of the Mejlis Mr Zaur Smirnov informed the participants of the meeting about the dates of holding the zonal meetings between the Mejlis’ leaders, heads of the departments of the Mejlis, the delegates of the Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar People, representatives of the local bodies of the national self-governance, deputies of the local councils and representatives of the Muslim ummahs in a range of regions up to the end of 2013. The first such meeting will be held on December 7, 2013 in Saki. The schedule of meetings is available on the official website of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People.

The temporary regulations of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People was adopted for the basis. On December 9, 2013, Monday, the Presidium of the Mejlis was ordered to adopt the Temporary regulations in the final formulations considering the amendments from the members of the Mejlis and the Revision Commission of the Qurultay.

The provisions on the structural departments of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People were also adopted for the basis. The final provisions considering the possible amendments will be adopted on the next meeting of the Mejlis.

Mr Sergei Kovalsky, co-coordinator of the Crimean Headquarters of the People’s Resistance spoke at the Mejlis’ meeting as a guest. He informed all the present that the regular meeting supporting the European integration of Ukraine will be held on December 7, 2013 in the afternoon in Simferopol and called to take part in it.

After the consideration of the main issues the situation in Kyiv was discussed. Mr Akhtem Chiygoz, Vice Chairman of the Mejlis told how many Crimean Tatars are in Kyiv’s square now and how many of them took part in the protests from the very beginning. He also noted that a lot of people want to go to Kyiv to express their support of the European integration of Ukraine.
