Mr Refat Chubarov, Head of Parliamentary Faction «Qurultay-Rukh»: «My Colleagues Are on Slippery Slope of Loosening Ukraine»

Mr Refat Chubarov, Head of Parliamentary Faction “Qurultay-Rukh” in VR ARC, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People commented on the address to the President of Ukraine that said about the possibility of the announcement of the state of emergency adopted by the VR ARC on December 2, 2013.

“It isn’t the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea, but the branch of one of ruling party of Ukraine. They perform the order of the party: hold the special meeting and call the President to announce the state of emergency. They did this and they did this using very rude and dangerous way for the Crimean society. Their statements today have a purely xenophobic nature. Here we saw that some of my colleagues are on a slippery ground of loosening Ukraine. There is really a threat to Ukraine – a threat to the territorial integrity. Many of my colleagues do not want understand this and even promote disintegration of Ukraine. To my opinion it is the main danger,”- Mr Refat Chubarov noted.

On December 2, 2013, 76 of 78 MPs of the VR ARC adopted the address to the President of Ukraine Mr Viktor Yanukovych calling him to adopt all possible measures to restore the public order up to the announcement of the state of emergency if required.

The members of the Faction “Qurultay-Rukh” Mr Refat Chubarov and Mr Leonid Pilunsky vote against it.
