One More Mosque Was Burned Before Holiday Namaz

On October 15, 2013, at 6 a.m. on the first day of celebration Kurban Bayram – one of the greatest Muslim holidays one more mosque was burned in Rovnoe (Karasan) village, Krasnogvardeisk region, Crimea.

15minut.org reports, referring to the Head of the Secretariat of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Mr Zair Smedlyaev.

It was already the second such case for the last three days. It bears reminding that on October 13, 2013, in the evening the mosque of the Muslim Ummah “Yani Jami” was burned off in Saki. The Crimean Militia investigates arson.

According to the Head of the Secretariat of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Mr Zair Smedlyaev, the fire started in the mosque in Rovnoe in early morning on October 15, 2013.

“The fire started at around 6 a.m. one hour before namaz. Thanks good the mosque was not completely destroyed, but the holy books burned off,”- Mr Smedlyaev said.

The First Vice Chairman of the Mejlis Mr Refat Chubarov informed that part of the holy books and household equipment were destroyed and the praying room of the mosque will require some cosmetic repair.

According to Mr Zair Smedlyaev, two mosques burned within three days couldn’t not be just a coincidence.

“I think that the “branch” of the same organization that started fire in Saki acted here. These folks repeatedly spread chauvinistic leaflets. The most cynical thing was that they started fire on the eve of the great Muslim holiday Kurban Bayram,”- Mr Smedlyaev noted.

The investigation group works at the fire site at the moment.
