Mustafa Jemilev: There Are no Objective Reasons for Resignation of Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan

There are no objective reasons for resignation of the Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Mustafa Jemilev said this in his interview to the inform agency e-Crimea commenting on the mass actions of protest that swept the Turkish cities.

M.Jemilev reminded that the main reason for the people’s dissatisfaction was the opposition to the development of the Gezi Park in Istanbul which the opposition and destructive forces, including the ones outside Turkey used skillfully.

“I hope that everything will be solved in a civilized way. There are forces that stay are from the park and try to use this reason in order to destabilize the situation and achieve the resignation of the Prime Minister Recep Erdogan. The ruling party has been holding power for a long time and there are no doubts that they possess the considerable authority among the citizens. There are no reasons to count on the majority of the population to support the opposition,”- Mejlis Head Mustafa Jemilev noted.

Mejlis Head added that recently Recep Erdogan’s Government has demonstrated the most constructive and practical policy that met the interests of the country. At the same time, evaluating the protesters M.Jemilev underscored that there are both paid participants and those who are not agree with the policy of the authorities. “There are representatives of arts and intellectuals, but there are also some destructive forces. At this, the opposition that is supported by less than 20% of population demonstrates its disagreement openly,”- M.Jemilev stated.

At this, Mejlis Head M.Jemilev admitted that the Turkish police exceed one’s powers using violence and tear gas during the initial dispersion of the protesters. That is why the corresponding evaluation has to be made to these actions.

M.Jemilev thinks that in order to ease the tension and return the situation to the peaceful course the referendum on the development of the park should be held.
