Mejlis’ Leader Mustafa Jemilev Welcomed Members of Union of Historical Cities of Turkey that Visited Crimea

The Turkish delegation, numbering the mayors of the member-cities of the Union of historical cities of Turkey, is making its visit to Crimea from May 12 to 15, 2013.

More than 150 Turkish mayors came to Crimea to study its culture

The Leader of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev and his First Deputy Refat Chubarov welcomed the members of the Turkish delegation.

Ismet Yuksel, the advisor to Mejlis’ Leader for Turkey and Abduraman Egiz, the Head of the International public organization “Bizim Qirim” also attended the meeting.

The meeting with Turkish guests was held in the restaurant “Ayshe”.

After the meeting the members of the Turkish delegation along with Mejlis’ Leader Mustafa Jemilev placed flowers to the monument of the great Crimean Tatar educator, writer, publisher and founder of the first Turkic newspaper “Terjiman” (Translator) Ismail Gasprinsky. Staying in Aqmescit the guests also visited Kebir Jami where they made the joint namaz (prayer).

In the framework of their four day visit the Turkish delegation to visit the historical sights of the Crimean peninsular, as well as such Crimean towns as: Aqmescit (Simferopol), Gezlev (Yevpatoria), Bakhchisaray, Aq-Yar (Sevastopol), Yalta, Alupka and Alushta, IA QHA reports.

Please note, the Union of the historical cities was founded with the support of the Union of city halls of Turkey in order to study the historical cities of Crimea that succeeded in preserving and maintenance of the cultural heritage.
