On January 12, 2013 the 5th session of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people of the 5th convocation was held in Simferopol on January 12, 2013. The main item of the agenda was item by item consideration and adoption of the “Regulations on the elections of the delegates of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people” in the whole.

As is known, the decision of the 4th session of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people of the 5th convocation (July 21-22, 2012) formed the structure of the Central election commission, headed by Remzi Ablaev, one of the authoritative participants of Crimean Tatar national movement.

However Remzi Ablaev’s health condition doesn’t let him execute the duties of the Head of the Central election commission and CEC held its meetings without its Head last months.

In addition, during the adoption of the “Regulations on the elections of the delegates of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people” and regulation of the powers and duties of the Central election commission part of the members of CEC elected earlier couldn’t remain its members, as in this case they will lose their right to run for the delegate of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people.

In this regard, the delegates of the 5th session of Qurultay of the 5th convocation formed new composition of the Central election commission, numbering 17 persons and elected Zair Smedlyaev its new Head.
