Mustafa Jemilev: Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People is not a Group of Like-Minded Persons, but a Body Elected by People

The Leader of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people stated this in a show, titled “Perekrestok” in ATR TV channel.

During the last meeting between Mejlis Leader Mustafa Jemilev and Head of the Council of Ministers of Crimea Anatoly Mogilev, held on October 2, 2012 in Kyiv that was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstantin Grischenko, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu, Crimean Prime Minister said about the necessity of state registration of Mejlis as a public organization.

“We categorically oppose such proposals. First, Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people is not a group of like-minded persons, but the body, elected by people. That is why it couldn’t mix with some kind of organizations, that rich the number of 2 thousand in Crimea,”- Mustafa Jemilev underscored.

Furthermore, Mustafa Jemilev noted that Anatoly Mogilev categorically denies existence of any discrimination in the representation of Crimean Tatars in the state bodies of Crimea.

“The Crimean Prime Minister Anatoly Mogilev claims that Crimean Tatars’ representation corresponds to their ration in Crimean population. If it is true I ask to provide me the information on all republican bodies how many people employed there and how many Crimean Tatars are there. It turns out that we don’t have even 3%, but some 1.5%. I have every reason to say that there is no state left in this world where the indigenous people was subjected to such severe discrimination as unfortunately in our country,” – Mejlis Leader stated.

In addition, according to Mejlis Leader Mustafa Jemilev the issue of the adequate representation of Crimean Tatars in the executive bodies of Crimean authorities will be included into the international agenda. “We are going to solve this issue in the framework of the International forum. Today there is no state in the world that could let it ignore the international public opinion. We are going to work right this way,”- M.Jemilev underscored.
