Mejlis Leader Mustafa Jemilev Takes Part in Celebration of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Independence Day

On November 15, 2012 the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus celebrates the 29th anniversary of its independence.

On November 15, 2012 the Leader of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to celebrate the 29th anniversary of the TRNC’s independence.

In the framework of his visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mejlis Leader Mustafa Jemilev met with the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Dervish Eroglu and the Speaker of the Parliament of the TRNC Hasan Bozer and took part in the ceremonial marching and parade, timed to the 29th anniversary of the Republic’s independence.

The Head of the Committee of the investment and international trade of the Crimean International Business Association Rustem Umerov accompanied Mejlis Leader in the events, timed to the 29th anniversary of the TRNC’s independence.

Reference:  the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is located in the northern part of the Cyprus Island. From 1975 to 1983 it was called the Turkish Federative State of Northern Cyprus.

In 1983 the Northern Cyprus proclaimed its independence. The new state was called the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Its first President was Rauf Denktash.
