Ali Osman Bekmambet: I’m Sure that Time will Pass and Our Blue National Flag with our Tamgha will Rise over Crimea as Before

On June 24, 2012 the delegation of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, including Ali Khamzin, Zaur Smirnov, Bekir Ganiev and the representative of the Democratic Union of Turk-Tatars of Rumania Ablez Aydin visited the oldest veteran of Crimean Tatar national movement Ali Osman Bekmambet, aged 100, living in Constantia.

Crimean guests expressed the jubileer their congratulations on behalf of the representative body of the Crimean Tatar people – Mejlis and its Head Mustafa Jemilev, as well as the best wishes on behalf of the whole Crimean Tatar people. The members of Crimean delegation underscored that Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and all our nationals appreciate Ali Aga Bekmambet’s contribution to the national movement and his combat for the rights of the Crimean Tatar people.

Today Ali Aga Bekmambet is a single veteran of the movement who in the 20th century was familiar with such well known figures as Jafer Seydamet, Mustejeep Ulkyusal and others. In 1951 Ali aga was sentenced to 20 years of prison for the rescue of his nationals during the WW2 and after the deportation of the people from Crimea who lived as refugees in Dobrogea (Romania). However, in 1964 after 13 years of prison he was released. He enjoys well-earned respect and authority among Crimean Tatars.

The members of the delegation presented Ali Osman Bekmambet the original of the congratulation letter from Mustafa Jemilev and the letter of commendation on behalf of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.

Agitated, the oldest veteran of the national movement expressed his personal gratitude to the Leader of Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev for his attention paid and said: “I was destined to be the witness of the hardest ordeals of the Crimean Tatar people in Crimea, the most terrible of which was the deportation. But today, knowing that after the first Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people, held in 1917 in Crimea we have functioning Qurultay and Mejlis we are all sure that our people will revive and restore our rights in the green peninsular!I’m sure that the time will pass and our blue national flag with our tamgha will rise over Crimea as before!
