Next Meeting of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People

The broad meeting of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, attended by the heads of the regional mejlises, members of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea from “Qurultay-Rukh” Faction, Crimean Tatars, employed in the bodies of the state executive authority, representatives of Crimean Tatar public organizations and a range of the delegates of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people was held on June 10, 2012.

The meeting’s agenda was as follows:

Celebration of the Day of Crimean Tatar national flag;

Situation around Crimean Tatar editorial office of the STRC “Qrim”;

Holding of the regional conference of Crimean Tatars of Alushta and Yalta regions;

The coming election of the MPs of Ukraine.

The representatives of the youth organizations made reports on the first item.

Ayder Adzhimambetov informed the members of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people about the main events of the celebration of the Day of Crimean Tatar national flag, held on June 26, 2012: auto races that will start in 5 corners of Crimea and meet in Simferopol and concert – educating program on the Central Square in Simferopol. The most detailed information for those who wish to take part in the races, describing the routes and timing is available at http://avtoyurush.info/.

Having discussed the issues, related to the preparation to the celebration of the Day of Crimean Tatar national flag the members of Mejlis approved the initiative of the youth and adopted a range of concrete orders, related to the implementation of all the events planned.

Then the members of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people discussed the situation around the Crimean Tatar editorial office of the State TV and Radio Company “Qrim”. The director of the creative union of Crimean Tatar programs of the STRC “Qrim” Seytislyam Kishveev who was invited to the meeting of Mejlis informed the members of Mejlis about the disastrous state of the office and very insufficient volume of broadcasting in Crimean Tatar language: 30 minutes per day or 3 hours per week, no broadcast on Saturday.

At this, it turned out that the Head of the STRC “Qrim” demands daily covering of the activity of the central bodies of state authorities, in particular the President of Ukraine and the Council of Ministers of Ukraine in “Haberler” (News) program that lasts only 13 minutes. Consequently, there is almost no time left for covering of the public-political, social and cultural life of the Crimean Tatar people and Crimea.

In addition, the demand of the Head of STRC “Qrim” to accompany all the programs in Crimean Tatar language with subtitles in Russian is not accompanied with corresponding material-technical support.

According to Seytislyam Kishveev Crimean Tatar editorial office has creative potential for the cardinal increasing of the volume of broadcasting in Crimean Tatar language, including the coverage of the activity of the central bodies of state authorities of Ukraine, but for that it needs more broadcast time and material-technical support.

During the discussion of the matter the members of Mejlis adopted the decision on the necessity to hold the meeting between the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, MP of Ukraine Mustafa Jemilev, members of the VR ARC from “Rukh-Qurultay” faction and the Head of STRC “Qrim” and workers of the creative union of Crimean Tatar programs STRC “Qrim”.

The meeting of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people fixed the dates of the conferences of Crimean Tatars in accordance with the results of the elections of local mejlises of Alushta and Yalta regions: June 30, 2012 – Alushta region and July 7, 2012 – Yalta region.

The members of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people heard and discussed the information of the Chairman of Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev about the course of the consultations and talks with the representatives of the national-democratic forces of Ukraine about the coming election of the MPs of Ukraine.

During the discussion of this question Mejlis’ members agreed the common principles and on their bases ordered the leaders of Mejlis to go on the talks with the political partners. The results of the talks will be then given to the consideration of the delegates of Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people to be held in July 2012. At this, the heads of the regional mejlises were pointed out at the necessity to conclude the lists of the candidates for the inclusion to the composition of the election committees in all levels.
