Kerch Celebrates Hidirellez

On May 2 the celebration of Crimean Tatar festival Hidirellez was held in Kerch City Park, located near the sea.

The First Deputy Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov has written about the festival on his Facebook page.

It should be mentioned that the annual celebration of Hidirellez festival in Kerch has already become a tradition,– Refat Chubarov wrote. Everyone prepares to the holiday in advance: city hall of Kerch and its mayor Oleg Osadchy, as well as Kerch regional Mejlis and its Head Mufret Veliev.

The guests both from the neighboring villages and other regions of Crimea came to Kerch to celebrate Hidirellez festival. Children were especially happy, as the festival for them was one more possibility to demonstrate their skills in dancing, singing and various sports competitions. As was written on Refat Chubarov’s page, the mayor of Kerch Oleg Osadchy, the President of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars, the First Deputy Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov and Head of Kerch regional Mejlis Mufret Veliev addressed the audience with their speeches at the official opening of Hidirellez festival.

In the framework of Hidirellez festival there was an auto racing with the cars, decorated with Crimean Tatar national flag and Kerch municipal flag.

As in previous years the gem of the festival was the open Crimean Tatar national wrestling KURESH tournament whose winner obtained the first prize, instituted by the mayor of Kerch – a living ram!

We would remind you that on May 5 there will be ceremonial events in Bakhchisaray region on the occasion of Crimean Tatar festival Hidirellez. The location is the cultural-entertaining center “Shakherezada”.

Everyone is invited. According to the organizers the festival will be very interesting.
