The founder and the first President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Rauf Denktash dies

The founder and the first President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Rauf Denktash (1983-2005) died on January 13, 2011, aged 88. Rauf Denktash – the outstanding state, public and political figure devoted all his life to fighting for the inalienable rights of Turkish Cypriots, seeking for mutually acceptable ways of consent and stability in interrelations between all Cypriots. Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people expresses its sincere condolences to all residents of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and Rauf Denktash’s relatives and friends over his death. The Leader of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, MP of Ukraine Mustafa Jemilev to take part in Rauf Denktash’s funeral ceremony, held in Lefkosia town on January 17, 2012.
