Chairman of Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev and Rector of Middle Eastern University of Cyprus, Professor Suat Gunsel Signed Agreement on Long Term Bilateral Cooperation

On August 15, 2009 the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev and Rector of Yakyn Dogu University (the Middle Eastern University of Cyprus), professor Suat Gunsel ratified the agreement on long term bilateral cooperation in the framework of the friendly relations between the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus and Ukraine, Turkish-Ukrainian trading relations, as well as the cooperation in the economical, technical, scientific and cultural areas, aimed at further strengthening of the bilateral technical, scientific and educational relations.

At the suggestion of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people 3 persons from Crimea are to be sent annually to study at the Middle Eastern University of Cyprus at the economic and social sciences department.

The parties agreed that the future students of the Middle Eastern University of Cyprus will be selected by means of the contest, organized by Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people. In the framework of the agreement six representatives of the Crimean Tatar youth has been the students and undergraduates of the university already for two years.

The coordinators of this long term project are the representative of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people in Cyprus Selyami Kachamak and the Head of the department of culture and education of Mejlis, Chairwoman of Association “Maarifchi” Safure Kadzhametova.

In the middle of September this year the competition among the applicants on the knowledge of English and native language was held in the office of Association “Maarifchi”. The competition won Arzy Emirova, Leylya Mamutova, Alime Churlu and Ilyas Khodzhametov. In the beginning of September the Chairman of Milli Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev received them in his office and wished them success in their studies.

This week they are leaving to Cyprus.
