On May 8, 2018, in the office of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, a meeting of Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and his Deputy, Ilmi Umerov, with the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Lyudmila Denisova, was held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lyudmila Denisova, who holds the position since March 15, 2018, noted that she plans to pay considerable attention to the issue of Crimean political prisoners who are illegally kept in prisons of occupied Crimea and in the territory of mainland Russia, as well as the issue of respecting for rights and freedom of internally displaced people in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Refat Chubarov, thanked Ms. Denisova for operative intervention in the situation happened with Uzeyir Abdullayev, and, in turn, promised a full support from the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People. In particular, on-site assistance, communication with relatives of political prisoners and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ilmi Umerov emphasized that today, at the administrative boundary line with Crimea from the side of the Ukrainian state authorities numerous violations of rights of citizens are taking place, in particular, from the side of State Border Guard and Customs Services. Ms. Denisova promised to pay attention to these problems as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
